The Invisible

When I first saw the previews for this movie it looked good, a little scary and thrilling but the story line good. I waited till it came into theatres and I never got around to seeing the film, but I was glad to have a gotten to see it now. The movie is good and for the most part I knew the story line although the previews made some of the film different to me that what it actually was (if that makes any sense).

It is a story about a young man who in a sense dies but is still there like a ghost. It is the story of him trying to get the people looking for him to find his body and help them solve what happened to him. The filming is quite well done and as far as the acting went I think it takes some good acting to act as though as person is not there even though he is. The story line is different and leaves you in suspense as to the outcome of the film.

I liked this film, but it is not as good as I had hoped but it still managed to keep me in suspense. Without giving much away I found the ending could have been done differently.

I recommend this film to anyone who likes suspense but nothing to scary and likes something a little different

I give it 3 IceCream Scoops out of 5
Rated PG-13 for violence, criminality, sensuality and language - all involving teens.

Martian Child

I could tell from the previews that this would be a great film to see, a wonderful family film based on some true events. This film was beautiful and sad and in ways you can see the reality. The acting was good even for the who portrays the Martian child.

This film is about a famous writer who decides to adopt because it is what his late wife had wanted to do. The story follows his relationship with the boy who believes he is from mars and does things so much differently. The stress of it all and how they come love each other as father and son.

This move is emotion filled and a loveable family film with its quirky and funny moments and also the sad and angry moments that happen in families. This movie is wonderful and I recommend it to anyone who is interested in a traditional family film that is just as enjoyable as well as it is heart warming. You don’t see many good family flicks these days and as far as family ones go this is by far one of the best I’ve seen in years.

I give it 3.5 IceCream Scoops out of 5
Rated PG for thematic elements and mild language.

Across the Universe

I Love musicals, theatre or film if there is singing I love it. So when I saw the previews for this movie I knew I had to see it, but for me it was a very long wait. It is by far a different musical than any I’ve seen. It is uniquely made and if not for the music there would be no movie.

Using the songs of The Beatles this film takes you back to the sixties in a time of war and well peace. Spanning countries and water the title is a perfect description of this film. It revolves around a group of people and how they all react differently to the situations forced upon them and all the while singing.

I thoroughly enjoyed this film and the singing was quite well done. The songs made you want to sing along with them. The choreography was brilliantly done and the colours and everything was quite good. I will quite honest and admit that there was a part in the film I did not enjoy, I just didn’t like it and thought it was too weird. But it did fit the film

I recommend this movie to those who like musicals and sometimes something a little different too.

I give it 4.5 IceCream Scoops out of 5
Rated PG-13 for some drug content, nudity, sexuality, violence and language.
