Law Abiding Citizen

It's not what you know . . . it's what you can prove in court."

Anytime I see a Gerard Butler film I go in with the mantra that I’ll be cheering for him the whole. I mean, its not often he pulls out the villain card and when he does its not that terrible guy you really hate, and usually I still can’t help but love him (see Tomb Raider and Phantom for Examples).

Going into Citizen and having seen a trailer for it, I thought I had it figured out. A mans wife and child are murdered in front of him, I mean who wouldn’t want revenge on the guy who got away with it. If one thing I have discovered its expect the un-expected, you may go in with a determined mind set, but expect to come out unsure of who you’re rooting for.

This movie is about a man who, decides to take justice into his own hands to prove a point at how corrupt it really is. Gerard takes the role of psychological killer to a new depth, Including early on in the film the dismemberment of the murderer. I mean there’s something terrifying about being chopped up into over 25 pieces, He uses a box cutter to remove one certain appendage.

I loved this movie, not only for its non stop heart racing what’s going to happen next sense, but because it was more than action it was a psychological thriller as well.

A lot of reviews are unfortunately looking at this movie as realistic or putting down the ending. For me it’s the complete opposite, the ending was brilliant and smartly done.
It had great acting and the story line is there to make you think.

Just like me, I’m sure when you leave the theatre you won’t know who to be rooting for.
I reccommend this movie to anyone who is a Gerard fan, or someone who wants to see a really good psychological film, don't expect to be bored at all.

I give it 5 IceCream Scoops out of 5

Rated R for strong bloody brutal violence and torture, a scene of rape, and pervasive language

Twilight

All you have to do is hear the word "Twilight" and immedietly almost everyone knows what you're talking about. You either hate the movie or you love it, there's no real in between. Unless you ofcourse you're a closet Twilight Lover. It's an enormous growing fad in the industry, everywhere you look now its Vampires.

I'll admit I love this movie, so much infact after viewing it I bought the books and preceded to see the movie 4 times in the theatres before purchasing it when it arrived on dvd. And I'm only 1 of millions of girls who felt the same way.
I've decided to review this movie in an un-biased way. Taking out my own feelings towards it and being completely honest.

What first caught my attention for this movie was the lead actor, as I was curious I looked up what the story line was about and was very impressed. It's the story of impossible love and to me those always make a great story. Upon finally seeing the movie I noted several things, the acting was below good standards and even contained some particularily horrible cheesey lines.

The biggest disappointment was in fact the acting as I'd had the chance to see many of them in other films which created a higher standard for me. I blame the bad acting partially on the script and direction from the author of the book. There's always the chance that an author is so particular with their book becoming a film that it doesn't give the actors a chance to really adapt a character.

The most impressive part of the whole movie was the scenery, it was visually appealing as they chose specific colours to depict certain things. The action sequence was also impressively done.

Another fantastic drawing point was the music, not only the fantastic score of the movie which set the tone, but the music provided by different musicians, it's not your traditional music, its different and thats what makes it good.

I give it 3 IceCream Scoops out of 5
Rated PG-13 for some violence and a scene of sensuality

9

Every year, someone in the film industry produces a film that stands out from the rest. Whether its a love story, comedy, action film, a animated film or even a movie that is unbelievable terrible. In recent years its the art of computer animation that has taken film by storm, but its that usual family friendly film thats made. Very rarely does someone do something different, something that is beyond your traditional animated film. A movie for adults. Which is usually difficult since animation is geared more for a younger age.

2009 brings a new animated film to the screen, "9" is its name and for the first time in a few years its not a movie to take a child too.

Fast forward to the near distant future, to the age of the Machine. The world has been destroyed after a war between the human race and machines. The movie comes in after all this with the creation of "9", who is one of nine creatures created by a scientist to rebuild humanity in the world when nothing is left. It is an action packed movie as the nine try defeat what evil is left and stay alive.

What drew me to this movie was not just the brilliant animation, but the concept behind the movie and the story line. It is a visually appealing movie with great detail taken into account, the use of colours and difficulty is also amazing. The story is dark and terrifying, but it causes you to think as our world progresses farther and farther into the future, whether we will end up destroying what we created. For a movie with such a serious story line, it also provides a comic line here or there to help lighten the mood in some more terrifying moments.

If you want to see a movie, that is something different this year, or an animated film that makes you really think, I reccommend this movie. I would like to warn you that some scenes may not be for some people who have difficulty with death.
