9

Every year, someone in the film industry produces a film that stands out from the rest. Whether its a love story, comedy, action film, a animated film or even a movie that is unbelievable terrible. In recent years its the art of computer animation that has taken film by storm, but its that usual family friendly film thats made. Very rarely does someone do something different, something that is beyond your traditional animated film. A movie for adults. Which is usually difficult since animation is geared more for a younger age.

2009 brings a new animated film to the screen, "9" is its name and for the first time in a few years its not a movie to take a child too.

Fast forward to the near distant future, to the age of the Machine. The world has been destroyed after a war between the human race and machines. The movie comes in after all this with the creation of "9", who is one of nine creatures created by a scientist to rebuild humanity in the world when nothing is left. It is an action packed movie as the nine try defeat what evil is left and stay alive.

What drew me to this movie was not just the brilliant animation, but the concept behind the movie and the story line. It is a visually appealing movie with great detail taken into account, the use of colours and difficulty is also amazing. The story is dark and terrifying, but it causes you to think as our world progresses farther and farther into the future, whether we will end up destroying what we created. For a movie with such a serious story line, it also provides a comic line here or there to help lighten the mood in some more terrifying moments.

If you want to see a movie, that is something different this year, or an animated film that makes you really think, I reccommend this movie. I would like to warn you that some scenes may not be for some people who have difficulty with death.

I give it 5 IceCream Scoops out of 5
Rated PG-13 for violence and scary images
